It pains me to say it, but while I watched Fred Thompson's video address to the National Right To Life Committee a few weeks back, my thoughts weren't all that far removed from James Wolcott's.

WHY I AM FOR ABORATION When I was a corrections officer I was assigned to a minimum security facility here in Alabama. Half of the prisoners should have never been born, because they did not have anybody in their life teaching them how to be a law abiding citizen. I can not imagine how many more maladjusted inmate we will have in our prison if it was not for abortion. If man and woman want an abortion; they are fools and most likely their child will be a fool. Erm... yes. Now, I've got a soft spot for Fred. And part of me quite liked it, in spite of not being pro-Life. But. And here's the thing. It seems to me a little bit... um... not sincere. And very stagey. And were I pro-life, I flatter myself that I'd have enough about me to recognise this. But then Ronald Reagan got away with it.
Wow. Fred Thompson is old.
I thought it was fine, though I agree it probably would have better without parading the family in and out at the beginning.
I support Fred Thompson. Because eight years of a drawl and an empty suit are not enough.
