Exploring The Infinite Abyss

Via Tyler Cowen comes a list of the ten most awesome movies Hollywood killed, many of which (Chris Rock as Fletch? Unbreakable 2?) don't sound all that awesome. I like this list, from the same source, a lot better.

That list is horrible. It's a miracle, from God on high, that the Confederacy of Dunces movie was never made with Will Ferrell. I wouldn't have killed anyone if Lily Tomlin was cast, but Will Ferrell as Ignatius (and I like Ferrell) was a horrible choice. The film would have been an abomination.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman would've been a good Ignatius Reilly, I always thought.

My god, Garden State sucks.

Meanwhile, Blade Runner is so good.

"It's too bad she won't live... but then again who does."

I would love to see Unbreakable 2. The first movie was a great backstory and I would've loved to see it blossom. A true "everyman" superhero would be cool.

Thank God they've killed Dunces. I haven't read the book, but anytime that Will Ferrell is kept off of celluloid it gives me hope for the future. He's taken untalent-ness and made it into an artform.
