Reihan: The End of Iraq's Christian Community?

Check out this vivid photo essay from VII.

VII, incidentally, is a truly impressive group of gifted photojournalists who've banded together to stick it (gently) to The Man. More power to them.

Bushpigs still cling to the notion that invading Iraq was a good and noble idea, but that fantasy is no longer possible for a rational mind to maintain.

The real tragedy is that this has been happening all over the Middle East for decades now. The difference being that now such marginalized groups (with modern transportation/banking/communications) have the means and opportunity to move out of oppressive environments.

The persecution of Arab & Middle East Christians continues apace. An event like the Iraq war leaves this population even more vulnerable. They are targeted by Terrorist organizations as reliable “anti-Islam” targets that are corrupting the people. All while trapped in a civil war between Shitte’s & Sunni The United Nations said in a report this year that of the 1.5 million Assyrian Christians living in Iraq before 2003, half had fled the country and many of the rest were moving to "safe areas" in the north of Iraq.

These are the oldest Christian communities in the world & more attention needs to focus on their plight.
