Reihan: Marc Andreessen on Bionic Woman

Watch and be amused as a smart man asks some very glaring questions about this season's smash-hit. I worry that a nation that watches and enjoys Heroes and Bionic Woman is inviting a slap upside the head from enlightened Lost-loving extraterrestrials.

Is he that smart if he's watching THE BIONIC WOMAN?

Network TV is for losers.

Marc, if the show is so dumb...DONT WATCH IT! I don't. If a show is too dumb, I stop watching it.

Hello? McFly?

Instead he pays for it, so he thinks that gives him the right to be as much of a jerk about it as he pleases. That's the same type of guy who thinks that he has the right to boo the starting QB whenever he wants because he's "paying for these seats!"

Marc, paying for something does not give you any rights or priviledges beyond those found in the EULA (or whatever it's license is called.) Whether you paying for it or not you have the same right to criticize and nitpick.

And again...if it sucks...DON'T WATCH IT!!!

Reihan,

Firstly, thanks for keeping the content flowing at Casa de Ross , and keep up the good work.

Second, I don't really think it's either accurate or fair to compare Lost to Bionic Woman or Heroes. It's like comparing Lord of the Rings to the Xanth chronicles, because both have magic in them.

Heroes is great popcorn fodder, worth watching but you don't want to think too much about it because then you're realize how stupid it all is. Lost just exists on an entirely different level. I would argue better, but that's just my personal taste.

I had hoped that Bionic Woman would aim more towards the Lost demo, but obviously NBC is aiming to be the home for silly sci-fi.

Besides, there are really much better reasons for the aliens to justify our extinction.

David S, your point is well taken. But my love of Lost is such that I can't abide watching any other show steal hearts and/or minds.

Reihan,

I am right there with you with the love of Lost, but isn't it the job of an unrepentant TV snob not to worry about the loss of such hearts and/or minds that would be seduced by the gaudy siren call of Heroes or Bionic Woman? Good riddance to bad rubbish I say. But maybe it is your admirable optimism about the human species that even such lost (pun not intended) souls could find their way back into the light, whereas my opinion is that the swine will always seek the slop, regardless of what else is available to them.
