Or just universal Romney hatred?

I prefer Huckabee - McCain. Huckabee can beat Hillary and McCain can fill his lack of foreign policy experience. No doubt that McCain is tops when it comes to Iraq.
You mean "Huckabee-McCain".
Don't worry, we hate McCain and Huckabee, too.
The ticket is Romney-Huckabee. You read it here first. Of course, if it doesn't happen, you won't know where to find me....
Another vote for McCain-Huckabee. This time we might really get compassionate conservatism.
McCain-Huckabee Would be a terrific ticket. Nothing at all to upset the social conservatives in either ones record. Solid pro-life with a lifetime of foreign policy experience and military credentials would wipe the floor with Hilary or Obama. Huck should consider it…and not be to proud to stand as V.P. (despite his current popularity) I think most of his supporters would leave with him to McCain camp. Its also Hucks best chance to be president after 8 years in the white house.
I wonder if the prospect of a McCain-Huckabee ticket would motivate The Decider to endorse Romney.
Huckabee-McCain???? Why in the hell would McCain want to be VP at this stage of his life/career?????
How about Bob Dole/George H. W. Bush? Let's bring those two old goats back for another vicious beating. The Repiglicans are going down hard, so why not go for the amusement factor? With the noose of Iraq around the GOP neck, 2008 is looking all blue. By the way, is there a political writer on the planet who mentions Iraq less frequently than Ross does?
Ross, keep not mentioning Iraq. Another Atlantic blogger pretending to be an expert on the situation is all we need.
"Another Atlantic blogger pretending to be an expert on the situation is all we need." Nice line. But Ross writes about the 2008 election as though Iraq wasn't even happening. It's beyond bizarre to pretend, for instance, that Giuliani's crazy gleam when he talks about the war won't be a factor. Does he really just assume that any GOP nominee will be able to run away from Iraq, just because he does so himself? Or is he ashamed to talk about it because he's another member of the GOP Chickenhawk Chorus & Marching Band?

McCain competes more with Romney than with Huckabee for the same voters (although the way things are being reported now you'd never know it), and is now in striking distance in New Hampshire. A Romney slide is now very much in McCain's interest, especially now that Giuliani also appears to be flagging. You can actually now envision a scenario whereby McCain somehow manages to get back in this thing and win it, and it starts with a first place finish -- and possibly even a very close, expectations-beating, Bill Clintonesque, second place finish -- in New Hampshire. A less than first place finish for Romney, of course, and he's done.
