Tucker!

23 May 2008 09:19 am

I can't imagine that the sort of people who attend the Libertarian Party's convention would have any interest in handing their nomination over to Tucker Carlson. But as someone who thinks we need more Pat Buchanan-style (or Boris Johnson-style, to take a more successful example) crossovers from political journalism to actual politics, I'm all for his giving it a try.

Tucker likes McCain too much to do it. Although it would be nice to have him back after MSNBC cancelled his show and replaced it with that David Gregory/5-Talking Head self-parody.

Tucker always had interesting opinions, and he made sure to bring on guests who disagreed with him. More than we can say for certain other MSNBC programs.

Interesting. I like Tucker a lot, especially after Jon Stewart and the whole Slapdown That Wasn't episode.

Trying to wrest the closeted gay vote away from the GOP?

If Tucker Carlson became president he'd be assassinated by week's end. What an obnoxious person.

McCain can just respond by putting Crist on the ticket.

What do you mean by Pat Buchanan style? Barely veiled racist? Smug? Douche-baggy?

Tucker Carlson hurts America. Someone please remind him to stop.

The Libertarians will definitely go for the bow tie guy. He just better pray that George Will doesn't show up at their convention.

Wait, [T]ucker's running to be the Libertarian candidate? Shoosh, he's a bigger phony bumony pseudo-libertarian Republican than that McArdle woman.

President Tucker Carlson?

What, Corky from "Life Goes On" doesn't want the job?

Chris Matthews sometimes has people on his show who disagree with him, but then he doesn't let them say anything...

I actually like Tucker and enjoyed his show (it's unfortunate it was cancelled). He seems like a sensible small-government conservative type and was openly rooting for Ron Paul this past year. I'd gladly cast a vote for him over McCain or Obama.

Why is Tucker's mom posting here under the name "Derek"?
