I don't subscribe to Entertainment Weekly, but I usually manage to read at least every other issue cover-to-cover (I always buy it for plane reading), which is more than I can say for an awful lot of magazines. So I guess I'm basically in the same camp as Tyler Cowen and Seth Roberts, who discuss their EW-love at length here.

It's like $30/yr for a subscription versus, what, $175 newsstand.
My wife and I both do enjoy Entertainment Weekly, but I do have a few quibbles with it. First, only half the movie reviews are any good. Lisa Schwartzbaum's half. Second, the usual problem with mainstream magazines; too many pictures, not enough writing. I tend to read it back to front. That's about it. It's the best magazine of its kind. I will note that they did print one of my wife's letters a week or two back, so maybe I shouldn't criticize too harshly.

Amen to that. The only reason I don't subscribe to it is that its a weekly and it dates very fast, so reading an old issues rarely has any rewards. But I always have to explain to people who see me reading it and raise their eyebrows (because they think from the title that it's a "gossip" magazine) that it isn't a celebrity magazine (well, in a way, I guess, it is) but more like a capsule summary of current pop culture.
